Plug-in vehicle registrations reached a record high in 2015 as 28,188 new ultra low emission vehicles (ULEVs) arrived on UK roads – more than the past five years’ totals rolled into one. The Jaguar XE has scored another victory over its rivals to be rated the safest Large Family Car on sale by crash safety testing body, Euro NCAP.  It’s the latest in a long line of successes for the XE, launched just nine months ago, which is also included on the shortlist for the prestigious European Car of the Year (ECOTY) title for 2016. Chinese automotive website Popsuv has revealed images of what appears to be a production version of the Mazda Koeru crossover concept, which was revealed at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show. The vehicle pictured, which was photographed at a Mazda post-production facility in China, is believed to be the all-new Mazda CX-4 or Mazda CX-6 and appears to be in production ready trim. According to a new report from Car Magazine in the UK Audi has won the rights to the Q2 and Q4 badges. Alfa Romeo had owned the badges, previously used to denote its two- and four-wheel-drive models such as the 159 Q4, and it was not keen to share them. They are not currently active, however, and our sources confirm that Audi has, after protracted negotiations, struck a deal with Fiat Chrysler group (FCA) to acquire the names from Turin. Kia Motors Europe recorded its best-ever full year sales in 2015, according to the latest data from ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association). With 384,790 units sold in 2015*, Kia’s full-year sales figures represent year-on-year growth of 8.8%, increasing from 353,719 units in 2014. The Korean brand has now recorded rising sales every year in Europe since 2008. The number of electric cars on Britain’s roads may have shot up to more than 40,000 from just 3,500 two years ago, but a new survey has shown that only three per cent of motorists are interested in buying one in the next five years.
