Allison Allen from Daventry, Northamptonshire has driven off in a brand new top-of-the-range Tucson as the winner of Hyundai’s #M1LLION campaign, which celebrated Hyundai selling its millionth car in the UK since 1982.

The #M1LLION competition asked people to nominate their ‘one in a million’ – a person they felt deserved to win Hyundai UK’s stylish, hi-tech compact SUV. Entries could be submitted as a text, image or video on Hyundai UK’s Facebook wall or on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag #M1LLION.

The promotion, which ran for one million seconds from 10am on 26th November last year (the equivalent of 11.6 days), was a huge success receiving a total of 3,750 entries, while the hashtag, #M1LLION, trended across Twitter and Hyundai’s #M1LLION videos collected almost 300,000 cumulative video views across Facebook and Twitter.

Allison commented on Hyundai UK’s Facebook wall, nominating her husband Chris as her ‘one in a million’; her entry was picked at random during an unannounced ‘winning moment’, where all entries submitted at that time would be eligible to win. Allison and Chris, who are expecting their first baby later this year, were looking at buying a compact SUV to cope with their growing family, so the timing could not have been better.

Packed full of technology and with an eye-catching design, the Tucson is the perfect representation of the Hyundai brand. It is available with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist and a Smart Parking Assist System, as well as keyless-go and TomTom navigation with LIVE traffic updates. The striking all-new Tucson is priced from £18,995.

Tony Whitehorn, Hyundai UK President and CEO, said: “Selling a million cars in the UK, for a young company like Hyundai, is a very big deal. We wanted to celebrate that and we wanted people to nominate the person they felt deserved a brand new Tucson – so came up with the #M1LLION campaign. I’m delighted that Allison nominated her husband and they are about to have a new baby this year. The great thing is they will be bringing that baby home in a new Tucson. That’s really something to celebrate.”

Allison Allen said: “We were looking at family SUVs to buy and we saw the Hyundai #M1LLION promotion for one in a million and thought, let’s give it a shot. So we entered – and what do you know, we won! When our baby arrives, the new Tucson is going to be amazing. Thanks so much Hyundai.”

Her husband Chris Allen, Allison’s one in a million, said: “The Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist and Smart Parking Assist System mean that the Tucson is an extremely safe car on the road. I couldn’t think of a better car for our growing family.”
