Utilising latest Google search volume trends, Cargiant have analysed numerous brands and models to unearth some interesting trends. Check out all of the key findings below:
Audi Leads with Unmatched Popularity
Our research indicates a robust preference for Audi, with three of its models – the Audi A1, A3, and Q3 – securing spots in London’s top 10 favourite cars. Additionally, 10 Audi models feature in the top 50, signifying the brand’s impressive appeal in the capital. This preference
underscores Londoners’ inclination towards cars that marry luxury with advanced technology and outstanding performance, catering to a wide range of needs.
Top Models: Audi A1, A3 & Fiat 500
Londoners are showing a pronounced preference for models that offer urban practicality with a hint of luxury. The Audi A1, A3, and the iconic Fiat 500 lead the charge, each amassing 22,200 Google searches per month. This trend highlights a shift towards vehicles that are not only practical for city life but also offer a luxurious experience.
The Rise of SUVs
Our findings also reveal a significant shift towards SUVs and crossovers, with models like the Nissan Qashqai gaining popularity. This trend aligns with the evolving needs of London drivers who favour the versatility, practicality and comfort of these vehicles.
Mercedes: The Trending Brand of the Moment
Mercedes-Benz is witnessing a surge in interest among Londoners, especially models like the GLA, A-Class, and C-Class. This uptick is attributed to the brand’s focus on luxury and electrification, evidenced by its success in the 2023 sales and its prominence at CES 2023.
Range Rover Sport’s Popularity Soars, Evoque’s Declines
In a contrasting scenario, the Range Rover Sport has seen a remarkable 171% increase in interest, highlighting its appeal in luxury, performance, and off-road capabilities. Conversely, the Range Rover Evoque has experienced a decrease in popularity, reflecting the dynamic and ever-changing nature of consumer preferences.
Electric Vehicles: The New Normal
Aligning with global trends towards sustainability, our research shows that 38% of the top 50 cars in London are electric vehicles (EVs). This significant shift towards EVs reflects Londoners’ growing commitment to eco-friendly and sustainable transportation, especially with the expansion of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ).
